The mini-TOFS
The mini-Test of Financial Skills (mini-TOFS) is a free online short version of the TOFS, a clinical test developed by a team of Australian clinical neuropsychologists and researchers. The mini-TOFS is freely available on this website.
Please note, the mini-TOFS is not intended to be a clinical diagnostic test. It only provides an estimation of your financial skills to direct you to helpful resources for information and support. The recommendations are intended as a guide only and do not constitute financial or medical advice. If you are concerned about your cognitive or financial skills, please seek advice from your doctor.
What does the mini-TOFS involve?
- You will be asked some general questions about your background (e.g., age, sex, education and employment history).
- You will be asked to answer questions about handling money, budgeting, identifying scams, and financial decisions.
- The test takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. It is self-paced and there is no time limit. If you start and decide you don’t want to continue, you can leave by closing the web browser.
- After you have completed the questions, you will be asked whether you would like to save your test responses so that they can be used in research studies that are being conducted to improve the test.
- At the end, you will receive a short report with your results, and some tips and recommendations.
